Two armed men robbed a gas station near the University of Pittsburgh’s Oakland campus, according to police.
University of Pittsburgh police and City of Pittsburgh officers said they responded to a robbery at the Sunoco station in the 300 block of Craft Avenue at about 3:15 a.m.
A witness told investigators that two men — one with a pistol and another carrying an AK-47-style rifle — robbed the business at gunpoint before fleeing on foot along Kennett Square towards Ophelia Street, according to an alert sent out to university students.
No injuries were reported and unknown amount of cash was taken, police said.
Police said the witness described the man with the handgun as 5 feet, 4 inches tall and between 18 and 25 years old. He was dressed in all black and was wearing a black hat and mask.
The other suspect was described as being about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and also 18 to 25 years old, police said. He was wearing a mask, designer gloves and possibly a blue hooded sweatshirt.
The witness said both men were Black.
