Parking will be easier to find at Pittsburgh International Airport as renovations near completion and the new terminal prepares to open.

The renovations include two new parking areas, both within walking distance from the new terminal.

A new parking garage will provide 3,800 new public parking spaces. Those who use the garage will have access to a covered walkway that leads from the garage to the terminal through the Customer Service Building.

Travelers can also opt to park in new surface parking lots within walking distance of the terminal.

The additional parking areas will add a total of over 6,000 new spaces.

Existing parking areas will remain available for use, and the airport will provide travelers with larger shuttle buses to travel to the new terminal.

Drivers headed to the airport will continue to use the same highway exits which lead into the airport’s new roadway system. The roads will have updated signage to help guide both departing and arriving passenger.

The new terminal and front bridge are separated into three levels which are connected by elevators and escalators so travelers can move between levels.

The top level is a space for departing passengers. Airport shuttles will drop travelers at the check-in doors, while arrivals can be picked up on the middle level.

The bottom level will serve taxis, rideshares and regional transit, officials said.

Between the top and bottom levels are the “North Incline” and “South Incline” escalators, which were named to honor Pittsburgh’s inclines along the The Monongahela River, according to a release from airport officials.

The $1.7 billion new terminal is expected to open by Thanksgiving.

Pittsburgh International Airport posted a video highlighting the updated driving and parking information on Tuesday.
