A man died early Tuesday morning after losing control of his car and crashing on the ramp to the Fort Duquesne Bridge, according to police.

At about 1:30 a.m., Pittsburgh police, fire and EMS crews responding to a report of a single-vehicle crash on the bridge ramp near the intersection of Allegheny and Ridge avenues on the North Shore found the car on its roof.

Police found a woman who was a passenger outside the car and the man dead inside.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in the North Side and is in stable condition.

Joshua E. Wine, 30, of Zelienople was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said the vehicle was traveling from Reedsdale Street toward the bridge before the driver lost control and crashed on the ramp, according to initial findings by the bureau’s Collision Investigation Unit.

The on-ramp and Allegheny Avenue were reopened around 5 a.m.
