One man has died in a shooting in Homestead on Thursday afternoon and another was reported in critical condition, Allegheny County police said.

The deceased, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting in the 300 block of Oak Way, police said.

The other victim was transported to an unidentified hospital, also suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Homestead Police Chief Jeff DeSimone said the victims are 39 and 40 years old. He said one person was detained and taken to Allegheny County Police headquarters for questioning.

The chief could not confirm if that person was arrested.
