Turtle Creek shooting victim expected to survive

A car was found shot up in the parking lot of a convenience store parking lot in Turtle Creek on Friday, Jan. 19, 2019. One person was taken to a hospital.

A 28-year-old man is expected to survive after being shot in Turtle Creek shortly after midnight Friday, Allegheny County Police said.

Turtle Creek police and paramedics went to the 500 block of James Street around 12:20 a.m. after a shooting was reported to 911.

The victim found there was suffering from two gunshot wounds. He was taken to an unnamed hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with wounds that are not life-threatening, county police said.

Detectives found the victim had been leaving a residence in the 1200 block of Maple Avenue when he was approached by two men. He ran, got into his car and was shot while trying to drive away, county police said.

Other than that they were black, there was no other description of the perpetrators. A motive for the shooting was unclear, county police said.
