1 person hurt in fire near marina along Ohio River

A man was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious burns after a fire broke out in a trailer near a marina Wednesday morning in the city’s Chateau neighborhood.

The fire erupted in a trailer in the 900 block of Beaver Avenue near the Newport Marina along the Ohio River was reported at about 5:45 a.m., according to an Allegheny County 911 supervisor.

Firefighters were able to quickly douse the flames, the dispatcher said.

The identity of the man who was living in the trailer was not available.

The fire was quickly extinguished but the trailer suffered heavy damage, according to officials.

Pittsburgh police said the victim’s burns were serious but non-life threatening.

City police detectives and investigators from the fire bureau are working to determine the cause of the fire.
