Pittsburgh police are investigating robberies Wednesday at two pharmacies — one in Morningside and the other in the North Side.

Officers from the Zone 5 station responded to the Rite Aide pharmacy in the 1800 block of Morningside Avenue at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 30, according to a city police spokeswoman.

Employees told investigators that a man wearing a white hooded sweatshirt entered the store, walked up the clerk, displayed a handgun in his waistband and demanded money.

The suspect received an undetermined amount of cash and left the store. He is described as early 20s and 5 feet 11 inches tall.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., officers from the Zone 1 station responded to a call of a robbery at the Rite Aide in the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in the North Side.

A clerk told officers that a man was buying candy when he reached into the cash register and took an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the store.

He is described as about 6-foot-3 tall and 150 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

No information was available about whether the robberies are connected.
