2 more Port Authority employees test positive for coronavirus, bringing total to 29
Port Authority of Allegheny County on Wednesday reported that two more employees have tested positive for covid-19.
That brings the total number of employee cases to 29, said spokesman Adam Brandolph.
Seventeen of those employees have been cleared to return to work. Twelve are recovering at home.
The two latest cases involve a light-rail operator and a bus driver.
The light-rail operator tested positive on July 10, and the agency learned of the positive test on July 15, Brandolph said. The employee last worked on June 13 and has been in quarantine since.
The bus driver works out of the authority’s Ross garage. The employee tested positive on July 17, but last worked on May 29, Brandolph said. The employee has been off work since that time.
Brandolph said the agency is following guidelines laid out by state and local health officials and has confidentially reported all covid-19 cases to the Allegheny County Health Department.
Vehicle capacity limits remain in place so riders can socially distance as much as possible. Face coverings are required at stops and stations, when boarding and riding inside vehicles, and at the Downtown Service Center.
