3-alarm fire damages Carrick apartment building
A fire caused heavy damage to a three-story apartment building in Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood on Monday night.
City firefighters responding to the two-alarm fire in the 200 block of Spencer Avenue around 7:45 p.m. encountered flames shooting from the front of the building and heavy smoke inside the building, according to emergency dispatchers.
Firefighters determined the building was unoccupied, officials said.
The blaze quickly grew to three alarms as firefighters worked to prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings, according to a Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman.
The fire was brought under control by 8:15 p.m. The cause is under investigation.
