The National Aviary on Pittsburgh’s North Side is hosting Flamingo Fest Feb. 22-23.

The weekend is here, and we’ve got some ideas about how to enjoy it in Pittsburgh.

Uncork it

The Senator John Heinz History Center in the Strip District will host its 22nd annual “History Uncorked: ‘80s Night” on Friday, the party for young professionals. The evening will feature live music by Ridgemont High: Ultimate ’80s Band, a dance party hosted by DJ Bamboo, and food and drinks from some of the city’s restaurants. Guests can enjoy access to the museum’s exhibits as well as a throwback arcade from Replay FX featuring popular pinball and arcade games of the 1980s, a Mad Maxx’s rad ’80s photo booth, and life-size games courtesy of Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.

Soup’s on

It will feature 26 restaurants, cafes and kitchens that will compete in four categories: People’s Choice, Best Vegetarian, Most Unique soup and Best Host location. Participants decide the winners. It’s the 16th year for the event that benefits the Brashear Association, which serves people in poverty.

Participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food item or household item to help stock the Brashear Association Food Pantry.
