See ya, January. Here are some ways to spend the weekend in Pittsburgh.

Crawling along

There will be autograph sessions and appearances by team executives and past and present players, such as first baseman Josh Bell.

Admission is free.

Other planned activities include photo opportunities in the Pirates dugout, games and booths on the Pittsburgh Baseball Club Level and free alumni autographs in the Hyundai Club.

A cool idea

The Dollar Energy Fund, which was created to help low-income households pay utility bills, created a Cool Down for Warmth event to be held Friday, Downtown in Market Square, starring an ice house.

Visitors to the ice house will be asked to donate to Dollar Energy Fund’s Hardship Program while becoming aware of the needs of those who struggle to heat their homes during winter.

The 1,000-square-foot ice house took three days to build. The 8-foot-tall structure includes a bathroom with a toilet, tub and sink, complete with a faucet. It also features appliances, dining and living rooms and an attached garage.

Cool Down for Warmth has provided $841,000 in utility assistance to more than 2,400 local households during its first five years, according to press materials. Each year, more than 10,000 households in Pennsylvania turn to Dollar Energy Fund for assistance with their utility bills.

Bugging out

Cirque du Soleil’s touring production of “OVO” features insects that are larger than life. The Montreal-based contemporary circus returns to Pittsburgh through Sunday at PPG Paints Arena.

OVO, which is Portuguese for “egg,” tells the story of the insects’ reactions to a mysterious egg that appears one day and piques their curiosity. Guests will see high-level acrobatic acts displayed by an international cast of gymnasts and aerial artists dressed as dragonflies, spiders, ants and more. Performances include foot juggling, hand balancing, contortion, aerial straps, slack wire, Russian cradle and a signature finale that combines trampoline, tumbling and rock climbing.
