This is the final weekend of the 60th annual Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival, Downtown. Friday through Sunday throughout the Cultural District, Point State Park, and Gateway Center. Get your art on.

Don’t miss the U.S. Premiere of the Origami at the Mon Wharf Amphitheater in Point State Park. There are five performances Friday through Sunday of this bold collaboration between Franco-Japanese dancer/choreographer Satchie Noro and French design/builder Silvain Ohl. It features a 40-foot shipping container and a gravity-defying dancer.

The red box shifts continuously, creating an unstable stage.

'Grease' is the word

Clay Aiken takes on the role of Teen Angel in “Grease,” running Friday through Sunday at the Benedum Center, Downtown. The Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera’s production of the rock ’n’ roll musical has all the tunes you remember from the 1978 film adaptation, including “You’re The One That I Want,” “Grease,” “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” and “Greased Lightning.” Go back to the 1950s with the T-birds, Pink Ladies and poodle skirts, as you reminisce about those times at Rydell High School.

It shines

A masterpiece of modern horror is showing on the Rangos Theater from Friday through Sunday at the Carnegie Science Center on the North Shore.

“The Shining,” the Stanley Kubrick-directed classic based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel of the same name, still brings out the big scares. The psychological horror film follows a family headed to an isolated hotel for the winter where an evil spiritual presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future.

The red, white and blue

Friday is Flag Day and Pittsburgh is celebrating with an event in hopes of inspiring Americans across the country to “Fly the Flag” for unity and civility.

The National Flag Foundation, headquartered in Pittsburgh, is asking Americans to fly the flag and pause for 50 seconds (one second for each star) of reflection at 11:45 a.m. Friday.

President Woodrow Wilson established Flag Day in 1916. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania became the first state to celebrate it as a holiday in 1937.

Horsing around

The Frick Pittsburgh presents “A Sporting Vision: The Paul Mellon Collection of British Sporting Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts” which opens Saturday.

The exhibit includes more than 80 paintings that collectively transport the viewer to the English countryside, and give an in-depth immersion in the country pursuits that Pittsburgh-born Paul Mellon (1907–1999) loved, according to the museum. A Sporting Vision is the second half of Paul and Bunny Mellon’s collection which was showcased in 2018 at the Frick – “Van Gogh, Monet, Degas: The Mellon Collection of French Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.”
