There’s plenty to do in Pittsburgh this first weekend of June.

Play catch

Bring your glove for some baseball on the field at PNC Park.

The annual Catch for Cancer event is from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The Pittsburgh Pirates and Allegheny Health Network will host a baseball skills workshop with the opportunity to meet Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon and first baseman Josh Bell.

There will be five stations – playing catch, catching pop-ups, fielding ground balls, throwing (complete with radar velocity) and batting practice.

Taco Fest

Tacos, the Mexican dish of a fried tortilla folded and filled with seasoned meat, cheese and lettuce, will be the featured meal at the third annual Pittsburgh Taco Festival on Saturday at Highmark Stadium on the South Side.

More than 30 taco trucks and restaurants will be serving up their specialties in two four-hour sessions throughout the afternoon and evening. There will be live entertainment.

Some vendors provide strictly vegetarian and vegan menus; others offer vegetarian options in their traditional menu.

Streat eats

The DowntownCDC will team with the Highmark International StrEAT Festival Saturday and Sunday between Stanwix and Penn Ave., Downtown. There will be vendors such as DiAnoia’s Eatery, Fat Angelos, Karas Grill, and Tambellini’s as well as beer and wine, crafts and home ideas. There will be a meatball-eating contest both days. Entertainment includes Elias Khouri at 5 p.m. on Saturday and Jeff Jimmerson at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday as well as Mia Zanotti at 5 p.m.

Drink up

The seventh annual Rockin Wine & Beer Festival is Saturday at the Monroeville Convention Center. The event features over 100 wines and beers, gourmet chefs and food vendors and games and activities. There will also be live bands such as The Second Wind Band and Bon Journey.

Country flair

Grammy-winning singer Travis Tritt will perform on Friday at Stage AE on the North Side, along with legendary fiddle-loving The Charlie Daniels Band and The Cadillac Three. Tritt is known for his Southern rock style as well as a country sound.
