Happy November. There’s lots going on this weekend in Pittsburgh. Here are a few suggestions.

On the run

The seventh annual EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler is Saturday morning.

New this year, the race will take runners through 10 miles of Pittsburgh’s history, fandom and quirkiest traditions. There will be a Mr. Rogers mile that will have volunteers handing out water while wearing his signature red cardigan sweater. Mile 7 is going to celebrate the Pittsburghese lingo we all know and love with signs n’at.

More than 4,500 runners from 34 states and three countries are expected to participate, including a field of elite athletes who will be competing to win their share of the $25,000 prize purse.

The start line is West Carson Street near Highmark Stadium in Station Square on the South Side. The race finishes at the corner of 7th Street and Liberty Avenue, Downtown.

Warm up in Phipps

Gather your friends and head to Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Oakland at 7 p.m. for Friday’s “Party in the Tropics: Masquerade!” Indulge in sweet and savory food, cocktails and seasonal beer selections. There will be a live disc jockey.

Take part in a ballroom dancing class with Daria and Arthur from Carnegie Mellon University. Bring your mask or make one that night. (Full-face masks are not permitted.)

And if you aren’t in a party mood, you might want to take in Phipps’ Fall Flower Show: Japanese Inspirations. The journey to Japan includes Japanese-inspired botanical displays, giant origami peace cranes, a dry garden and serene floating lanterns. A vibrant dragon festival display rounds it out.

And don’t forget this season’s Garden Railroad, with its Farms, Food and Family theme. The train display’s farm life setting includes clucking chickens, mooing cows, riding tractors and landscaping goats.

Vince Gill

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vince Gill has become one of the most celebrated country artists of all time, selling over 24 million albums throughout his career and winning 20 Grammy Awards, more than any other male country artist. He will be in Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Heinz Hall, Downtown.

The Country Music Association has bestowed 18 awards on Gill, including two entertainer of the year awards and five male vocalist awards. In 2007, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Riverhounds playoffs

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC soccer team will host two-time defending champions Louisville City FC at 7 p.m. Saturday at Highmark Stadium on the South Side in the USL conference semifinals.

The Riverhounds are unbeaten at home this season with a 13-0-7 record and enter this match after defeating Birmingham Legion FC 7-0 in the conference quarterfinals.

This will be the third meeting this year between the Riverhounds and Louisville City. Pittsburgh won 1-0 at Louisville and tied 0-0 here on Sept. 7.

Rock on

The Florida rock band A Day To Remember is bringing its Degenerates North American Tour to Pittsburgh at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Petersen Events Center in Oakland.

The group recently released a single, “Degenerates.”

Over the past several years, each of the band’s releases have hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock, Indie, and/or Alternative Charts. They’ve amassed over 400 million Spotify Streams and 500 million YouTube views.
