There’s a lot going on this weekend in addition to the Steelers’ home opener. Here are some options:

Home-field advantage

To kick off the weekend, the Steelers host a “Fantennial Fan Fest” on Saturday outside of Heinz Field. There will be free concerts, player appearances and giveaways.

The celebration begins at 2 p.m. and ends with a performance by Robert Randolph and the Family Band at 8 p.m. in nearby Stage AE.

There will be activities on Art Rooney Avenue, West General Robinson Street and inside the FedEx Great Hall from 2 to 6 p.m. The six Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophies will on display.

Fans can take part in the Steelers Car Show in Gold Lot 1.

The Pitt/Penn State game will be shown on the big screen outside the stadium.

Street sense

The beloved pop group Backstreet Boys — Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson — will be on stage on Saturday at PPG Paints Arena for their “DNA World Tour.” It’s the band’s biggest arena tour in 18 years.

The new album “DNA” has songs such as “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” “Chances” and “No Place.”

The Backstreet Boys have sold more than 130 million records worldwide.

Turn up the heat

Pittsburgh Glass Center in Garfield is hosting its annual fundraiser “Art on Fire” on Friday at Nova Place on the North Side. The celebration and auction features the artwork of over 100 artists. Proceeds support free public programming and accessibility initiatives at the center.

The evening will also include a performance by the Pittsburgh Cello Quartet. Four new beers will be brewed especially for Art on Fire in collaboration with the Pink Boots Society, a nonprofit organization with international membership that supports women working in the brewing profession, especially in creating craft beer. Four Pittsburgh breweries will be represented: Grist House Craft Brewery, Hitchhiker Brewing, Penn Brewery and ShuBrew.

Horsing around

The 36th annual Family House Polo Match is Saturday at Hartwood Acres in Indiana Township. Pittsburgh’s only professional polo event and includes a vintage car show, beer and wine tastings and children’s activities. The event benefits Family House, which provides a special “home away from home” for patients and/or their families who are in Pittsburgh seeking medical treatment.

A tropical/medieval party at Phipps

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Oakland is hosting “Party in the Tropics: Renaissance Festival” on Friday. The conservatory’s tropical forest becomes the backdrop for this event, with light bites, special cocktails and a DJ. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes from medieval times.
