Allegheny County reported 31 more covid-19 cases and two deaths Friday, increasing the countywide total of confirmed or probable cases to 1,582 and the death toll to 141.

The jump in new cases reflected information reported to the county health department in the past 24 hours and includes testing conducted over several days, officials said in a statement.

There were six cases reported Thursday, 19 reported Wednesday, 15 reported Tuesday and eight reported Monday.

The first case in Allegheny County was reported March 14.

The youngest person to have died from the coronavirus in Allegheny County was 42 years old and had underlying conditions, county officials said.

Of the 290 hospitalizations reported in recent weeks, at least at least 117 people were admitted to an ICU and 67 have required a ventilator.

More than 23,000 people have been tested countywide, according to county health department data.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting that 393 residents and 109 staff members at 36 long-term care facilities in Allegheny County have tested positive for the coronavirus. There have been 110 deaths at those facilities.
