Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner faces a preliminary hearing later this month in Detroit on charges stemming from an altercation with Detroit police last month.
Neither Wagner nor her husband, Khari Mosley, appeared in person Monday at a probable cause conference, according to Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Maria Miller. Local attorney Charles Longstreet represented the couple.
Wagner, 41, was arraigned last week on two felony counts of resisting and obstructing police and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Mosley, 42, was arraigned on two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct.
Miller said a preliminary hearing for Wagner is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. April 11. A pre-trial conference for Mosley is scheduled for the same time and date in front of a different judge.
Both have pleaded not guilty to their respective charges.
The charges stem from a March 6 incident at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel. Wagner and Mosley were staying at the hotel while visiting the city on a belated Valentine’s Day trip.
Police say they detained Mosley after he caused a disturbance and arrested Wagner after she assaulted a police officer. Wagner says police mischaracterized the incident and she described the officers as the aggressors.
