Visiting and normal operations will resume Sunday morning at the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh after repairs to the water tower were completed and hot water was restored to the facility.
A problem with the jail’s water tower prompted a modified lockdown at the facility through Sunday, officials said. Fixing the problem involved a valve and gasket replacement and required the jail to go without heat, Warden Orlando Harper said.
The lockdown began at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Harper said that meant no programming in the re-entry centers, no educational services on level one and no visitation since Thursday.
