Allegheny County Police are accusing a former Clairton man of shooting a 21-year-old woman in the shoulder in Jefferson Hills just after midnight Sunday.

Police allege that Andrew Roberts, 27, whose last known address was Clairton, shot the woman in a mobile home community on Stilley Street.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was in stable condition Sunday afternoon.

Inspector Andrew Schurman said an arrest warrant has been issued charging Roberts with aggravated assault, weapons violations and other offenses.

A second person was charged in connection with the incident.

Gary Kovach, 36, of Clairton, was arrested at the scene. He was arraigned on obstruction of justice and hindering apprehension, according to online court records.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tipline at 1-833-ALL-TIPS 1-833-255-8477.

Callers can remain anonymous. The department can also be reached via its social media sites.
