Allegheny County added 13 new deaths attributed to coronavirus to its totals Wednesday, but some of the deaths reach back into July.

The county Health Department’s report brings the total covid-19 related deaths to 273. It was the highest single-day report since the outbreak began in March, with previous reports of 12 new deaths on April 16, April 21 and May 13.

Some of the newly reported deaths were attributed to the state importing data from its Electronic Death Reporting System. The 13 deaths range from July 25-Aug. 11, with nine related to long-term care facilities. The breakdown of ages was two in their 60s, three in their 70s, six in their 80s and two in their 90s.

The county also added 70 new cases to bring its total to 9,078 and one new hospitalization to bring that total to 738. It’s the sixth straight day — and 10th out of 12 days — with double digit increases in covid-19 cases.

The 70 new cases, spanning tests administered Aug. 3-11, were reported from 1,775 test results for a positivity rate of 3.94%. Two of the cases are considered probable, and 68 are confirmed. The new cases range from age 6 to 96 with a median age of 45.

Overall, 129,935 individuals have been tested in the county for a 6.97% positivity rate.

On Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported in its weekly update on long-term care facilities that a Monroeville nursing home had 47 cases of covid-19 and seven deaths. Last week’s update from the department showed that Monroeville Rehabilitation & Wellness Center reported zero cases of covid-19.
