Allegheny County reports 37 new covid-19 cases, 6 new hospitalizations
Allegheny County health officials reported 37 new covid-19 cases, six new hospitalizations and no new deaths on Thursday.
Covid-19 cases have been rising locally this week.
The county on Wednesday reported 45 new cases, matching the number of new cases reported on Monday. The 45 cases reported Monday and Wednesday were the highest daily totals reported in nearly two months. On Tuesday, the county reported 19 new cases.
This brings the total number of covid-19 cases to 2,321. Of those, 2,181 are confirmed and 140 are probable.
Those between the ages of 25 and 49 account for the highest number of cases at 35%.
County officials have attributed the high number of cases to the fact people are out and about and traveling. People also have lowered their guard after the state eased lockdown restrictions, they said.
During a Wednesday news briefing, Allegheny County Health Department Director Debra Bogen said nearly two-thirds of Wednesday’s cases were in people ages 19 to 49. She said there has been community spread of the virus and asked people to remain vigilant.
Six more people have been hospitalized with coronavirus-related issues, bringing the total number to 378.
No new deaths were reported, leaving the total number at 184.
Of the total number of deaths, 172 are confirmed to be linked to the coronavirus and 12 are probable. Those who died are between the ages of 23 and 103, with 84 being the median age.

5-12: 28 (1%)
13-18: 41 (2%)
19-24: 183 (8%)
25-49: 806 (35%)
50-64: 577 (25%)
65 +: 666 (29%)
