Allegheny County reports 61 new coronavirus cases
Allegheny County on Sunday reported its lowest number of new coronavirus cases since June 26.
The county’s department of health added 61 new covid-19 cases on Sunday as the total of newly reported cases stayed in double digits for the third straight day. The county also saw 61 cases on June 26.
The county also added four new hospitalizations and one death to its totals on Sunday.
All told, the county has seen 8,857 cases since the outbreak arrived locally on March 14. There have been 734 hospitalizations and 259 deaths in the county.
The newly reported death was that of a person in their 50s with a date of death of Aug. 5 in association with a long-term care facility.
Of the 61 new cases, all were confirmed, and the cases range in age from 15 to 84 years old with a median age of 49. The positive test results range from July 13 to Aug. 8.
There were no new cases reported among the 0-12 age group, with the rest spread evenly among older groups:
- 13-18 — 7
- 19-24 — 10
- 25-49 — 12
- 50-64 —18
- 65+ — 14
The county reports indicate 126,165 individuals have been tested, for a positivity rate of 7.02%.
Of the county’s 734 hospitalizations, 215 have need the intensive care unit and 89 required mechanical ventilation.
The county’s seven-day average of new cases was 88, only the fourth time since July 1 that it’s been in double digits.
