Allegheny County on Friday recorded 90 new coronavirus cases and five additional deaths.
The Allegheny County Health Department raised its case total to 9,282 since March 14. Of the 90 new cases, 49 are confirmed and 41 probable. The positive test results came from tests from July 31 through Aug. 13, with 90% coming from specimens collected in the past week, the health department said.
The county says those 41 probable cases are a one-time surge because of a backlog of cases entering the state system.
The department also reported 11 new hospitalizations. That brings Allegheny County’s total hospitalizations attributed to covid-19 to 766 and deaths to 283.
