Allegheny County to offer music on TV, online and movies in the park
To hear the music of the Allegheny County Summer Concert Series, tune into Pittsburgh’s CW.
The entertainment usually heard at South Park and Hartwood Acres Park amphitheaters has moved to television because of the pandemic, the county announced.
Presented by BNY Mellon, performances by local musicians and artists will be televised from 7 p.m to 8 p.m. every Sunday beginning July 5 through Sept. 6. You can also catch the shows on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
“One of the great traditions of summer for more than 40 years has been our free concert series at the South Park and Hartwood Acres amphitheaters,” said Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. “Although the pandemic is limiting our ability to gather in large groups, Allegheny County is honoring the spirit of our summer concerts and special events by continuing to provide free, high-quality entertainment in alternative ways.”
New this summer is “Parks Unplugged,” an online music and interview series that starts Friday with Pittsburgh’s Chris Jamison, who finished in third place on Season 7 of NBC’s “The Voice.” There will be acoustic performances by local artists in county park settings begin at 7 p.m. Fridays through Sept. 4 on the Facebook and YouTube pages.
Artists include Scott Blasey of The Clarks, Michael Glabicki of Uprooted and Clinton Clegg of The Commonheart.
