Allegheny County Courthouse on April 21, 2020.

The Allegheny County Treasurer’s Office will reopen to the public with normal operating hours starting May 18.

Tax and license cashiers will be available to process payments and applications on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All employees and visitors will be required to wear a face covering.

“Because of the encouraging trends we’re seeing, I look forward to the chance to welcome my team and our county’s taxpayers back to the office,” Treasurer John K. Weinstein said in a statement. “Doing so, however, means doing so responsibly.”

Employees will work rotating shifts to allow for physical distancing. They also will be provided with masks, hand sanitizer and gloves, and will have their temperatures taken daily.

The office closed to the public March 24 in order to limit employees’ exposure during the coronavirus outbreak.

The deadline to pay county real estate taxes was extended to June 30.

Payments for all Treasurer’s Office transactions also can be made online at www.AlleghenyCountyTreasurer.us with no additional fees.
