Pittsburgh's annual Mascot Skate to take the ice at renovated Schenley rink
A large group of costumed characters will soon take to the ice in Pittsburgh’s Schenley Park for the annual Citiparks Mascot Skate.
In its 33rd year, the annual event brings the likes of Iceburgh, Pirate Parrot, Steely McBeam and others to the Schenley Park Skating Rink to skate with kids and adults alike. At least 30 mascots are expected for this year’s edition on Feb. 1.
There will be plenty of opportunity to get photos and videos with the mascots from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Music will be provided by WISH 99.7FM.
Cost is $5.50, $4.40 for seniors and veterans with ID, $3.30 for those ages 17 and younger. Skate rental is $3.
The Schenley rink is one of four outdoor rinks in the region. The event is part of a grand reopening of the rink’s million dollar renovation. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set to take place at 6 p.m. Jan. 31. That night’s skating session will run from 6:30-9 p.m., with an adult-only skate set for 9:30-11:30 p.m.
