A Port Authority bus makes a stop along Freeport Road Monday, April 20, 2020, in Harmar.

Port Authority officials reported another employee who worked at the agency’s West Mifflin garage tested positive for covid-19.

Spokesman Adam Brandolph said Wednesday the maintenance person last worked on April 10 and has been in self-quarantine at home since then.

It’s the fourth worker from the garage and eighth Port Authority employee overall diagnosed with the virus within the past two months.

“Although the employee worked in the same areas as three other employees who tested positive in the past week, none have been inside the facility since Saturday, when Port Authority brought in an outside cleaning company to disinfect the building,” Brandolph said. “As an additional precaution, Port Authority has reduced its maintenance team at this location to a skeleton crew for the next two weeks in an effort to prevent further spread.”

Brandolph said of the authority’s more than 2,600 workers, including 1,300 drivers and 800 mechanics, 76 employees aren’t working because of pending covid-19 tests. Another 48 employees have returned to work since testing negative as of Wednesday morning.
