A concert Wednesday to benefit the family of Antwon Rose II will include Atlanta rapper Sa-Roc along with several local musical acts.
Organized by 1Hood Media, Unappreciated Management and Voices Against Violence, the concert will be from 7 p.m to 10 p.m. at the Ace Hotel in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood.
“We want to see the community of Pittsburgh under one roof,” said Chrisarah Johnson, co-founder of Unappreciated Management and the event’s co-organizer. “Bringing together the most popular artists in the city represents the unity in our communities and how we stand for, and with, Antwon Rose and his family.”
Rose, 17, was shot and killed by former East Pittsburgh police officer Michael Rosfeld after fleeing from a June 19, 2018, felony traffic stop. Rosfeld was acquitted of all charges on March 22.
“I’m thankful so many incredible artists are coming together and donating their talents to help Antwon’s family,” said Jasiri X, 1Hood Media CEO and the benefit’s host. “It’s powerful to see us use our various platforms to speak with one voice demanding justice for Antwon.”
Doors open at 6 p.m. A cash bar will be available and additional donations can be made in-person at the event.
