A bank heist getaway driver was sentenced Wednesday to three years prison, federal prosecutors in Pittsburgh said.
Mark Hammond, 55, was convicted in connection with the Jan. 10, 2018, robbery of the Huntington Bank on Smithfield Street in Pittsburgh’s Downtown.
According to court records, Hammond and his co-defendant, Alonzo Dunbar, stole about $1,680 from the bank. Hammond went into the bank first to get change and look it over, prosecutors alleged. Then Dunbar went in to rob the branch while Hammond waited in a vehicle outside.
Dunbar was sentenced in November to three years for the same charges as Hammond, conspiracy to commit bank robbery and robbery.
Hammond was also sentenced to concurrently serve 24 months for the robbery of the Parkvale Bank at the Crafton-Ingram shopping center on Jan. 18, 2008.
