An employee of Blessed Trinity Parish in the South Hills tested positive for covid-19, the Diocese of Pittsburgh announced Sunday.

The church building involved is St. Albert the Great in Baldwin.

As a precaution, churches and other buildings in the parish will be closed for extra cleaning and sanitizing, the diocese said. That includes St. Basil and St. Wendelin in Carrick; Holy Angels in Hayes; and St. Sylvester in Brentwood.

None of the churches are open for daily Masses and none of the buildings will be used this week.

The diocese said it would notify the Allegheny County Health Department, and staff were told of the risk of possible exposure and to contact their doctors for guidance. Those with direct exposure to the person who tested positive are being tested for the virus, and will follow voluntary self-quarantine procedures.

Reopening schedules for Blessed Trinity parish will be forthcoming.
