A SWAT situation in Bloomfield ended peacefully Sunday, Pittsburgh police said.

Officers closed a portion of Liberty Avenue after a man threatened to hurt himself and others, saying he had a cache of weapons, said Chris Togneri, a police spokesman.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. in the 4500 block of Liberty Avenue. The street was closed between Ella and Taylor streets.

Officers from Zone 5 were able to negotiate with the man, who surrendered at about 8:45 p.m. He was transported to UPMC Presbyterian.

Togneri said no charges will be filed.

Liberty Avenue was reopened at about 9:10 p.m.
