A Bridgeville man was sentenced Friday in federal court in Pittsburgh to spend two years in prison for having child pornography.

Senior U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on John Edward Desalome, 31.

According to prosecutors, in November 2016, Desalome was found to have 43 videos in computer files that showed children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Some where children under 12 years old.

Desalome used Bit Torrent, a peer-to-peer file sharing network through which he was receiving and distributing child pornography videos.

He initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty last summer.

The judge also ordered Desalome to serve 10 years of supervised release after his prison sentence.

A report attached to Desalome’s file said he had no prior criminal record and he had a “horrific and abusive childhood as a result of no fault of his own.”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch prosecuted the case. The FBI investigated.
