An Upper St. Clair woman was sentenced Friday to serve more than a year in federal prison and pay a fine for violating federal drug dispensing laws and defrauding an insurance company.
U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer sentenced Terri C. Brown, 53, of Morrow Road to a year and five months in prison and supervised release after that. Fisher also ordered Brown to pay about $4,800 in restitution to Highmark.
Brown owned and operated Cherry Way, a suboxone clinic in Bridgeville.
The government said she conspired with co-defendant, Mark Foster, who was the medical director at Cherry Way, to submit illegal prescriptions for the painkillers suboxone, Adderall and Percocet, and then illegally dispensed those drugs to Brown and others.
According to court reports, in October Foster pleaded guilty to three charges. Sentencing is scheduled for May 31.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert S. Cessar prosecuted the case.
The investigation leading to the filing of charges in these cases was conducted by the Western Pennsylvania Opioid Fraud and Abuse Detection Unit.
