The suspect in a murder on the other side of the country fled to his father’s home in Coraopolis where he was arrested Thursday morning by sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.

Police in Bakersfield filed charges against 19-year-old Isaiah Starns and four others in what was, at the time, an attempted homicide, according to the Bakersfield Californian.

The victim of the stabbing, an 18-year-old man, died Thursday morning, Allegheny County Chief Deputy Kevin Kraus said.

The stabbing happened about 1 a.m. Feb. 2 after a concert in Bakersfield, Calif., according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office. A “large scuffle” allegedly led to the stabbing.

California authorities believed Starns was headed to Western Pennsylvania, Kraus said. Deputies converged on Starns’ father’s home on Mulberry Street about 8:30 a.m. and ordered all tenants out of the apartment.

Starns, his father and stepmother complied, he said, and Starns was taken to the Allegheny County Jail without incident.
