“Let Me Break You Up: An Anti-Dating Game Show,” is hosted by comedian, writer, and actor Carly Ann Filbin.

A split is inevitable at the end of this night.

That’s the goal of “Let Me Break You Up: An Anti-Dating Game Show,” hosted by comedian, writer, and actor Carly Ann Filbin.

Pittsburghers can now see the couple who isn’t going to make it Friday at 10:30 p.m. at Club Café on the city’s South Side.

Tickets are $15.

Filbin told the Tribune-Review Tuesday the show is not appropriate for children. She’s been doing comedy for nine years and this particular show for three and a half years.

The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Filbin will make her first appearance in Pittsburgh and plans to return this summer for a different show.

Filbin borrowed the format from this Friday’s show from the former “Newlywed Game.” She selects two couples ahead of time and that night asks questions. The duo with the lowest score must break up, because that’s the name of the game, Filbin says.

A history of being in bad relationships is Filbin’s inspiration. The 33-year-old has plenty of bad boyfriends, she said.

She is in a “relationship,” currently.

“Let’s say it’s complicated,” she said. “Going on dates is usually like punishment for me. I’ve become a bitter person. So with this show it’s about broken hearts and I make it funny.”

Filbin said she has always enjoyed watching dating shows and seeing just how much people know about each other. One question she said might ask is “What was the last thing your partner cried about?”

She said she gives everyone an equal chance at heartache and welcomes couples of all kinds from gay to straight to everything in between.

“People actually ask me to be on the show,” she said. “I have met some fun, interesting couples. And the audience often chooses sides, which adds to the show. Let’s be honest, love doesn’t exist, couples suck, and Valentine’s Day is bull…..”
