A Wilkins man is awaiting extradition from Ohio, accused in the robbery last month of a Castle Shannon bank, police said Tuesday.

Deontre Lamar Simpson, 23, is charged with theft, receiving stolen property and two counts of robbery, court records show.

The robbery happened about 1:30 p.m. April 29 at the Dollar Bank on Castle Shannon Boulevard, according to Castle Shannon Police Chief Kenneth Truver.

The suspect, later identified as Simpson, ran into the back, jumped over the counter, took cash from a drawer and then ran back out, Truver said.

Port Authority surveillance footage allegedly showed that Simpson took the T to the area, and that footage helped investigators identify him as a suspect, Truver said.

A warrant was filed Sunday, and Simpson was taken into custody in Ohio.
