Emma Farrell, a Carnegie Mellon University senior from Telford in southeastern Pennsylvania, will compete in the “Jeopardy!” College Championship in April.
The 10-day special event airs from April 6-17. Fifteen students from across the country will compete for a $100,000 grand prize and a berth in the next edition of the Tournament of Champions.
Also in the field is Kylie Weaver, a senior at Penn State University from McLean, Va.
Last November, Connellsville native and CMU graduate Lindsey Shultz took part in the “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions, winning $115,000 before losing in the semifinals.
“Jeopardy!” contestants select answers by dollar amounts from a series of categories. Once the answer is revealed, the contestant must respond correctly in the form of a question.
If the contestant is right, that dollar amount is added to their score. If they are incorrect, the amount is subtracted.
