Allegheny County health officials issued a consumer alert for Homestead’s Me Lyng, citing dirty surfaces and a mouse infestation.

The inspection late last week at the family-style Asian restaurant on Eighth Avenue turned up mouse droppings throughout the kitchen, including on shelving and in food storage areas of the basement, according to the report.

Inspectors found one live mouse nesting in a box of noodles as well as nests in three other boxes of noodles and four empty containers, according to the report. A live mouse was seen along a basement wall, and inspectors found a chewed-open bag of takeout containers.

“There was one mouse dropping seen in the sesame seeds at the cook line,” according to the report.

The inspection also found an accumulation of food debris on a meat grinder and knives in the basement, and the inspector also noted mold in the produce refrigerator.

A restaurant manager could not immediately be reached for comment.
