The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for a South Hills Village bakery kiosk.

The consumer alert stems from where the food sold at the Breaking Eggs Bakery Kiosk was made, according to the inspection report.

The inspector wrote that the food is being prepared and finished at a “non-permitted facility” – that is, a private home outside of Allegheny County.

The report indicated the food was supposed to be prepared and stored at the bakery’s brick-and-mortar location in Carnegie.

The kiosk was inspected Nov. 20, at which time inspectors found pumpkin pie and pumpkin rolls with cream cheese sitting at room temperature rather than in a refrigeration unit, according to that report.

The issue was not cited on the latest report, dated Dec. 6. The only violation listed is the food coming from a non-permitted facility.

Bakery owners could not immediately be reached for comment.
