Smallman Galley in the Strip District, Friday, Dec. 18, 2015. Smallman Galley combines a food hall with a tech-style startup restaurant incubator, setting up four aspiring restaurateurs (chosen via competition) with all the rudiments of a self-sustaining restaurant, under one roof.

A consumer alert was lifted Friday for the Strip District food hall Smallman Galley, according to an Allegheny County Health Department report.

The alert was issued earlier this week after an inspection found that food was being handled at unsafe temperatures. An inspector also found “extensive” mouse droppings in food storage areas, along with a mouse stuck in a mouse trap, according to the health department report.

In addition, some food stalls did not have proper hand washing areas. Dish washing machines did not use hot enough water and the capacity of the dish machine was too small to handle the volume of dishes, the report said.

A follow-up inspection conducted Friday showed that actions to correct food handling, employee hygiene and dish washing violations had been taken, according to the inspection report.

The facility is still working to eliminate mouse droppings found in food storage and kitchen areas, according to the report.
