Allegheny County police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of stabbing a 70-year-old man in McKees Rocks late Wednesday.

Borough police responding to a 911 call for a shooting in the 100 block of Jane Street found a man suffering from a stab wound to the neck. The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

County investigators who were asked to assist with the case learned that the victim was walking in the 200 block of Wright Street when he was attacked by a man wielding a knife who had been following him.

The suspect fled on foot after the victim pulled out a handgun and fired at him, police said. Officers said the man has a permit to carry the firearm.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Allegheny County Police at 1-833-255-8477.

Callers can remain anonymous. Police also can be contacted through its social media sites.
