Couple escapes Penn Hills house fire

A firefighter sustained minor injuries in an overnight house fire in Penn Hills, WPXI reported.

Crews were called before 2 a.m. to the 1500 block of Universal Road, according to an alert by Allegheny County.

Calls came in for flames showing through the roof of the one-story home at 1511 Universal Road.

Emergency responders were able to contain the fire to the attic.

WPXI reported that the couple who lives in the home was able to escape safely and that a firefighter rolled his ankle during the incident.
