Sample collection for covid-19 tests are administered at a Central Outreach Wellness Center testing site in the parking lot of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium on Tuesday, March 24.

Testing for covid-19 at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium parking lot on Monday resulted in 10 positive tests, Central Outreach Wellness Center officials announced Tuesday evening. Five positive tests came out of testing in Beaver County.

More than 600 people were screened for testing at the Pittsburgh Zoo location, and a little over half of them were tested.

“As of noon today (Tuesday), there were 10 positive test results of the 308 tests we administered in the parking lot of the zoo,” Central Outreach officials wrote in a news release.

Testing at Central Outreach’s location in Aliquippa, Beaver County, had produced five positive results from 47 tests. Officials said they were still awaiting results for about half of the tests administered.

Since the start of collaborative testing between Central Outreach and Quest Diagnostics on March 16, 22 people have tested positive for covid-19.

“If you test positive for covid-19, place yourself in quarantine for 14 days,” the release reads. “Contact the Allegheny Health Department and your primary care physician. Follow CDC guidelines.”
