Driver suspected of DUI in Shaler crash that left truck dangling
The driver of a truck that went off a Shaler road early Wednesday and dangled over a bridge was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, Shaler police said.
The incident happened at 3:20 a.m. along Kay Street near Saxonburg Boulevard.
Police responded to the single-vehicle crash and found a pick-up truck that went over a small bridge spanning Little Pine Creek, Lt. Sean Frank said.
The front end of the truck was wedged beside the bridge.
The driver exited the vehicle without assistance and tow trucks pulled the driver’s truck free.
The male driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving, Frank said.
The crash damaged the rail and wing wall of the bridge, Frank said. The road reopened to traffic at about 5:30 a.m.
Police continue to investigate.
