The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is holding a public meeting Wednesday to present information and answer questions on the applications for natural gas development at U.S. Steel’s Edgar Thomson plant.

The meeting is set for 6 to 8 p.m. at the Braddock volunteer fire station at 845 Talbot Ave.

The DEP has invited representatives from Merrion Oil and Gas, U.S. Steel and the Allegheny County Health Department, which oversees air quality permitting and enforcement in the county.

The meeting coincides with a 30-day open public comment period on Merrion Oil and Gas’s application for an Erosion and Sediment Control Permit. People can submit comments to the DEP’s Southwest District Office: Oil and Gas Program Manager, 400 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 attention: Brian Bailey.
