Pittsburgh-based nonprofit Dreams of Hope will receive funding, public relations and volunteer support as a Citizens Bank Champion in Action.

The award includes $35,000 to fund the nonprofit’s programs, which work with queer and allied youth interested in the arts, including theater, poetry, spoken word, music and dance, according to a statement from Citizens Bank.

“The Champions in Action recognition will amplify the messages of social change and respect that Dreams of Hope conveys through art, and the voices of those made invisible in our society,” Seth Rosenberg, Dreams of Hope executive director, said in a statement.

The award is presented jointly by Citizens Bank, Trib Total Media and Pittsburgh Cares, which works to coordinate more than 20,000 volunteer positions throughout the Pittsburgh region.

“Trib Total Media recognizes the power of Dreams of Hope’s creative approach,” Jennifer Bertetto, Trib Total Media president and CEO, said in a statement. “Through the arts, Dreams of Hope enables freedom of expression.”

The Champions in Action program has awarded 342 nonprofits across the Citizens Bank footprint in the Northeast more than $9 million in contributions and promotional support since 2002.
