Pittsburghers are deeply loyal to the neighborhood they grew up in … Greenfield, Bloomfield, Highland Park, Oakland and beyond.

Pittsburgh’s East End Brewing certainly knows that.

On Saturday, the company will launch the “YOU ARE HERE” program designed to introduce a beer named after each of Pittsburgh’s 90 neighborhoods.

The inaugural brew is “Allentown,” described as an Imperial Shandy Ale at 7.5 percent alcohol by volume brewed with locally sourced tea and lemon juice from Prestogeorge Coffee and Tea Company.

The brew was chosen first in conjunction with Commonwealth Press, the brewery’s design partner, which will be celebrating the grand opening of its Allentown warehouse on Saturday.

The neighborhoods that follow will be drawn at random by a different local celebrity, business partner, or all-around cool Pittsburgh person, East End said.

“This project is a wonderful way for all of us here at East End Brewing Company, as well as our ‘Good Beer Fans’ to more deeply engage with our Pittsburgh home, neighborhood by neighborhood, beer by beer,” Scott Smith, owner of East End Brewing, said in a news release. “It also lets us get out into the neighborhoods to do more pop-up style can releases, further engaging with the community partners and incredible people we have come to know and respect in Pittsburgh over the last 15 years of brewing here. Pittsburgh has always been our home, and I hope people will take this opportunity to get out of their comfort zones and explore it a bit more deeply.”

East End plans to change its regular brewing schedule to accommodate the new beers.

“Allentown” will be available at the Taproom in the Strip District and at the Brewpub in Larimer. It will be at the Allentown Night Market from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and the Commonwealth Press warehouse grand opening from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday.
