An employee at a Kane Community Living Center tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said Wednesday, though they noted the employee doesn’t work with residents.

Dennis Biondo, director of the Kane centers, said the employee at the Glen Hazel location has not worked since Thursday.

“There are no positive cases of covid-19 among our residents or staff that have direct care contact with residents,” Biondo said in a statement.

He said staff at Kane’s four living centers are following recommendations from Allegheny County and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“Where appropriate, medical staff also wear face masks, gowns and gloves when interacting with residents who are sick,” Biondo said.

Kane has already instituted a no-visitor policy at all of its facilities. In addition to Glen Hazel, there are community living centers in Ross, Scott and McKeesport. All trips for residents have also been canceled.
