A Pittsburgh firefighter was injured battling a fire in the city’s Perry North neighborhood that left a family homeless Monday afternoon.

A Pittsburgh family was displaced and a firefighter was injured in connection with a fire in the city’s Perry North neighborhood.

Authorities said fire from a vehicle spread to a house near the intersection of Ivory Avenue and Peachtree Way around 2:20 p.m. Monday.

A family living in a duplex was able to escape with no injuries. However, a firefighter was transported to a hospital with a back injury.

Authorities said the American Red Cross is assisting the family, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
