The Market Square Farmers Market returns to its regular downtown Pittsburgh location on Thursday. Here, shoppers are shown at the market’s 2016 opening day.

The Market Square Farmers Market returns Thursday to its namesake home in downtown Pittsburgh.

Now in its 16th season, the market was operating temporarily at a location near the David L. Lawrence Convention Center to facilitate increased social distancing and pedestrian access.

The Market Square venue will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursdays through Oct. 29, rain or shine, offering regionally grown produce, organic products and small-batch foods.

Full-time vendors featured every week include Batch, Cherish Creamery, Mediterra Bakehouse, Sand Hill Berries, Simmons Farm and others, along with a weekly rotation of part-time vendors.

Part-time vendors listed on the website for Thursday are Two Acre Farm and Aunt Carol’s Gourmet Dips, with Mark Ferrari scheduled to entertain.

The market offers weekly entertainment by Pittsburgh singers and songwriters.

Market organizers ask visitors to wear a face mask or covering, maintain at least 6 feet of distance from other shoppers, not touch any products prior to purchase and wash reusable bags before bringing them to the market.

Visitors are encouraged to pre-order and prepay online from participating vendors, and to use credit and debit card payments on-site, when possible.

Vendors will take safety precautions and will be spaced further apart with signage and queue lines to help attendees maintain social distance.

Safety regulations were formed in collaboration with the Allegheny County Health Department and will be enforced by on-site staff.
